Hey Kids

We have been following the storyline of God's rescue plan for us from the very first bad choice that threw the world into chaos. In our last series One of A Kind we explored the perfect choices of Jesus. This month we will see how faithful Jesus is to rescue us from death. He shows us how to live, love and serve the kingdom of God now and forever. He gives us New Life right now.

LAST WEEK Jesus is risen. He has risen from the dead, so for all who believe in Him, they can rise too.

THIS WEEK we meet the Holy Spirit. Jesus tells his followers to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes. Can you imagine the conversations the followers of Jesus would have had while they were waiting? What do you do while you are waiting?

For Playhouse Kids

In the old testament we read how God sent a rainbow as a symbol of His promise. In the new testament God made another promise, He promised He would send the Holy Spirit to guide us.  



Choose a few of your favourite fruits and make a rainbow fruit salad.  Remember to ask an adult to assist you when using a knife.  When we are guided by the Holy Spirit we bear good fruit.

What fruits of the spirit do you think you have?

  • Patience

  • Faithfulness

  •  Goodness

  • Self-control

  • Gentleness

SLIME TIME

Follow the recipe below to make slime.

FLUFFY SLIME (without Borax)

  1. Put 1/2 cup shampoo and 1/4 cup of cornstarch in a bowl

      2. Mix well.

      3. Add 3 drops of food colouring (optional).

      4. Add 1 tablespoon of water and stir. Slowly add 5 more tablespoons of water, stirring well after each one.

      5. Knead the slime for around 5 minutes.

The Holy Spirit lives in us.  How do we know He is there? We can see our arms, legs, skin, hair and everything else but not the Holy Spirit inside us.  

When you made the slime you could see the ingredients until it got mixed together.  You know the ingredients are there even though you can’t see it.  What you could see was the  end product of the ingredients. A  fun slime.  

That is just like when we choose to follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit guides us.  They are like ingredients that change us and make us better.

BLINDFOLDED OBSTACLE COURSE

The Holy Spirit leads us, but we need to follow His guidance. Make an obstacle course and blindfold yourself.  Ask someone you trust to lead you by either giving you instructions or leading you by the hand.  Do you rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance in difficult situations?
