March 11

Hey Kids

This year we will be learning about the Kingdom of Heaven and all the different parts of it. This week we are continuing our series called The King. We will spend the next few weeks exploring who our King is and what He is like. We are going to focus on our King, Jesus and what He is like. We will learn how compassionate and gracious our God is!

LAST WEEK We learnt that Jesus is slow to anger because He loves us.

THIS WEEK We will learn that God does not have to forgive us He WANTS to.

Bible Texts: Exodus 34:6, Psalm 32, Micah 7:18-19 & John 8:1-11.

A message in the sand.

Have you ever gone to the beach and written a message or drawn a picture in the sand? How long did it last? Did it get trampled by other people on the beach or did the waves wash it away? Sometimes we can feel like the messages in the sand. We can feel trampled on and pushed around and some days it feels like we are being dumped by a big wave. While this sounds pretty bleak, remember that when everything has been washed away by the waves there is a fresh smooth lot of sand ready to be played in again. What kind of marks will you leave on the beach next time you go? Know that when we ask God for forgiveness, He gives us a fresh start, every time.

You don’t need to go to the beach for this activity. Source some sand from your local playground supplies and a tray. Fill the tray and get started on creating your message in the sand. It doesn't matter if you make a mistake, just wipe away and start again.

Or

On a piece of card write a message or draw a picture using a glue stick. Pour sand over the card and cover all the glue. Put another piece of card on top of the sand and press down firmly. Remove top piece of card and then tip the sand back in the bucket.

When we choose Jesus he helps the good things stick for us so the stuff we don’t need can be wiped away. For this activity make your own coloured sand so the activity is way more fun for the kids.

Let’s play Pac Man!

I love playing arcade games that I used to play when I was a kid. Pac man was one of my favourites. Ask your parent for permission to access Pac Man for your device.

Why do I like Pac-Man?

I like Pac-Man because as long as you have credit the little munchy guy just keeps on going. Even when he gets eaten by the blobby monsters. He just reappears at the bottom of the screen ready to go again. Know that God loves us so much, He is ready and eager to give us a fresh start, to forgive the stuff ups we make and help us start over. Just like the little Pac- Man we can start every day every hour every moment knowing God has enough credit to keep us playing in the game.
