Hey Kids

Our series for this month is is called Into the Fire. It is part six of The Storyline of the Redeeming love of Jesus . In this series we are exploring the Adventures of the Israelites through the book of Exodus. We begin with the story of Joseph and we will end at the wall of Jericho hundreds of years later. From Joseph to Joshua we will discover the good the bad and the ugly and find out that Gods plans for his family are good and that no matter what evil has planned for us Jesus has plans to turn it into good. By Choosing to live love and serve like Jesus we can be a part of his great plans.

THIS WEEK we see how God reveals his rescue plan not only for the Israelites but for all mankind.

Bible Texts —Exodus 12:1-14, 21. Matthew 26:26-29. Revelation 5:12.

YARN HEART WITH A TWIST

For this experience you are going to create two yarn hearts.  For the first heart you need to make it using only ONE hand!  That’s right… keep one hand behind your back and try to draw and cut a cardboard heart.  If you were able to do the first step, the next step would be to wrap the yarn around it.  Remember for the first heart you can only use one hand!

For the second heart you can use both hands and follow the same steps to complete the task.

Once you’ve completed the two hearts, put them side by side and compare them.

We can try to do things by ourselves without God’s help.  We might be able to have some success but things are bound to fall apart without Him.

When we choose Jesus and trust in His plan for our lives, we know He will not leave us wanting.  When Jesus is in your heart… you will feel loved and complete, because He is all we need.  He is enough!

ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE

Our words to remember this week remind us of how wonderful and powerful God is.  Knowing He can do anything is enough to make me explode with joy!

Choosing to love Him and serve Him means you invite Him to do the most amazing things in your life for you BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU!!!! Isn’t that awesome.

Talking to Him

Choosing Him

Serving Him

Loving Him

Praising God

Reading our Bibles

These are all ingredients… When we use the ingredients the end result is something amazing.

Follow the instructions below to create Elephant toothpaste.  Watch how the ingredients create something amazing!

REMEMBER YOU WILL NEED AN ADULT TO HELP YOU WITH THIS!

ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE – MATERIALS:

*We used 40 volume hydrogen peroxide which is 12% available in beauty supply stores as “hair developers.” Most recipes call for at least 6% (20 volume) for a good foam reaction. The ones you get at the drug stores won't be as foamy as they are 3% but you can still try it!

**Hydrogen peroxide can burn and irritate skin so please only have adults pour and haINSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1. Gather your materials. Wear safety goggles. Place your cylinder in your tray. Have an adult pour the hydrogen peroxide into the cylinder.

Step 2. Have your child add two pumps or about a tablespoon of dish soap into the cylinder.

Step 3. Add several drops of ONE colour of food colouring (we tried more than one colour and it just turns grey!). One colour we found was best and if you want to create those classic toothpaste looking stripes, add the colour to various sides of the cylinder.

Step 4. Mix your yeast with the warm water for at least 30 seconds.

Step 5. Pour the yeast into the cylinder, step back and watch the foamy magic happen! DON’T TOUCH THE FOAM AS IT’S AN EXOTHERMIC REACTION AND IS HOT! After several minutes, it does cool down.

The foam does dissipate from its lofty volume rather quickly in minutes and after several minutes, is not hot to the touch. However, to be extra cautious, please don’t have children touch and play with the foam in case all the hydrogen peroxide has not broken down from the catalyst (yeast).

MAKE A HUMAN KNOT… then try to untangle it. Remember, you can not let go of each other's hands until everyone is freed.

You might find yourself stretched and pulled.  Sometimes you might even cling on with just a few fingers.  After all the stretching and pulling you will be able to free yourself and help free your friends.

Being part of God’s Big Plan sometimes means we need to give our time, skills or sacrifice something important to us. When we do this we live, love and serve like Jesus!  God’s big plan for us is to be free and spend eternity with Him when He returns.
