MAY 16

HEY KIDS!

This week is all about - our living loving God and how we can choose to follow Him.

Our Trailblazers this week are Elijah and Samuel

KIDS WORSHIP SERVICE JOURNAL

KEY BIBLE TEXT | 1 Kings 18:16-40 | 1 Samuel 3

What’s Happening -  Imagine living in a community where no one worshipped God. Worse yet, imagine if people said they worshipped God but everything they did showed they were worshipping themselves.  Elijah and Samuel both lived in times like these. In both these stories God speaks in words and actions. Let’s follow the stories and see how God speaks to Samuel and Elijah. I wonder this week how God will speak to us?

Have you ever wanted something so badly that you just wouldn’t give up trying to get it?

Todays story is all about that.

Read 1 Kings 18:16-40

Can you tell me who is in this story and what did they want? (vs16-19)

Where is this happening and who is there? (vs 19)

How long did Baal’s prophets pray for? (vs 26-29)

What did Elijah do when Baal’s prophets finished? (vs 30)

Why do you think Elijah used twelve stones to rebuild the altar of the Lord?(vs 31) To remind the people who they were and where there story began.

Why do you think Elijah asked the people to pour water on the altar?

What happened?(vs 38)

What did the fire burn up? (vs 38)

How powerful is God? Is anything too hard for God?

God is all powerful, and yet, He will not make us love Him. He wants us to choose to love him.

Can you remember the question we asked about something we wanted so badly we wouldn't give up on it?

We, you and me,  are who God wants. He never wants to give up on us. I hope and pray that we will never give up on God.

PLAY - Heads Up

This game of charades is fun to play. Take turns acting out animals, books, movie or song titles. Have a go at acting out your favourite bible text or story. Our actions can speak so loudly. When we get out actions and words working together, well that is a beautiful thing especially when we choose to use our words and actions to do a good thing. This is what God made us for.

As you fill these spaces with colour think about the meaning of the words. They are designed to fill you with confidence in knowing  God’s love for you.

Create your own Elijah on Mt Carmel story using this picture. This video will show you how.

My Listening Ears

Ears are funny looking things on the side of your head. Even though they are funny to look at they do amazing things. Take a moment to listen to the sounds around you. What can you hear? Make these Listening Ears and know that God hears us and we can hear him with our ears and in our hearts. Let’s get good at listening

TREEHOUSE KIDS

Can you see God’s power around you? What stops the sun from coming closer to earth? How do the seasons know when to change? How do birds find their way home? Make a list of all the things you can see and share it with us in our Whats App group.

Try listening on this paper cup phone.

Try listening on this paper cup phone.

PLAYHOUSE KIDS

To make this you will need:

  • 2 paper cups

  • 6 metres of wool or string

  • A sharp pencil

  • 2 paper clips (optional)

Poke a hole through the base of each cup.

  • Thread the string through the hole and tie a knot inside the cup to keep it in place. You can use the paper clip here if the knot doesn’t work.

  • To use your phones the yarn or string must be stretched out.

  • Experiment to see if your phones can work around corners, upstairs or even outside.

Being able to talk to each other is such a good thing. God talks to us all the time. Let’s get good at listening. We can listen in our bed like Samuel. We can listen anytime of day, God always has something good to say to the ones who love him.

We would love to see you playing, trying, making and sharing! Please share your photos with your KellyvilleKids community in our WhatsApp Group. If you’re new to our KellyvilleKids community and would like to stay connected, contact zan@kellyville.church
