HEY KIDS!

This week is all about -How I am generous to you because God is generous to me.

Kids Worship Service Journal

Key Text -  Matthew 25:31-40 | The Sheep and Goats | Ruth and Naomi Beginners Bible pg. 152-159.

What’s Happening - The Bible is full of stories that show us how generous God is. Jesus told parables to show what it is like to be generous or not. This week we are exploring the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats and the Story of Ruth and Naomi. Both of these stories show us how to be generous. Can you think of ways you can be generous?

Do you know what you are created for, made for?

Can you tell me what a fork is made for? We use them to eat with.

Can you tell me what lego is made for? For creating amazing things.

What about a football or a skateboard?

Can you tell me what you are made for?

Jesus tells us one of things we are created for through the parable of the Sheep and Goats.

Let’s see if we can find out what we are created to do. Read Matthew 25:31-40

What is happening in verse 31-33? Who has come again and who is with Him?

Who is gathered before Him? How many groups are the people put into?

Are the groups Penguins and Seals? Lions and Cheetahs, Monkeys and Squirrels or Sheep and Goats?

Why do you think those animals were chosen. (If you have no clue check this video out.)

What did the King say to the people on His right?

How did the people reply? (vs 37-39)

What did the King say to them?

The King’s answer is our Words To Remember for this week

‘I tell you the truth. Anything you did for any of my people here, you also did for me.’

Any kind good thing you do for anyone, the King sees as you doing it for Him.

Have a think about that for a moment.

Can you think of a kind thing you have done recently?

Sometimes we get stuck in doing just what we want to do. Kind of like goats when they get their mind stuck on eating plants or clothes or anything really.

God has been so generous to us that all He asks us to do is be generous with the people around us. To think about helping others more than helping ourselves.

Who can you see in your everyday life that you can be generous to? You can give them water to drink or food when they are hungry or a jumper when they are cold. You can visit with them when they are lonely.

The Bible says how you treat others is how you treat Jesus. That is why He asks us, above all else, to love one another.

This is what you are created for.

You are made to love one another

I know I’m going to need help to love others how Jesus wants me to. I'm so thankful that He has sent the Holy Spirit to help me do just that.

If you would like to ask for help to love the people around you, read the Words to Remember again. Ask God for super eyes to see people who need help and super ears to hear if someone is sad and super fast feet to run and help those who need a friend.

Your mission this week is to take notice of the people around you and pray for ways to help. Then, get about helping.

God is always  looking  for people who are ready to work together to do good things. People who are ready to do a good thing no matter who they are with.

Make this key chain. Thread the beads on to make a word. Know that love is the thread that holds us together.

Playhouse KidsGo for a walk around your house and find things that can make a picture together. You might find some plastic cups that look like eyes, or a banana that looks like a smile or a tangled up ball of wall that looks like hair. You can make whatever you like by putting all these different things together. If you're outside you can use sticks, leaves, flowers and rocks.

Everyday God is looking for people who want to be a part of his amazing picture. He needs your smile to cheer someone up, your eyes to see someone who is hurting, your hands to be gentle. Make something amazing today.

Pictionary

Can you draw a picture and have your family guess what it is.

Think of all the amazing things God has given us like animals and birds, fish, flowers and family. Think about all the stories that tell us how much Jesus loves us.

Take turns at drawing and see if you and your family can guess what the pictures are.

Try growing in generosity.

Share what we have. We can give money to lots of different causes all over the world but this week, let’s get good at giving generously at home. How can we be generous in our families? Is there something we can give to our families? It might be an hour or two helping out around the house or choosing to be joyful when you're not feeling great. Last week we learnt that the word prodigal means being wasteful with resources. What are some resources you have that you can take good care of and share with people who may need them. Taking care of what we have means when we need to share them or give them away, we are giving our best, not the stuff we have broken or want to replace. To be generous is to give of our best. This week let's give our best words, our best actions, our best attitudes as a gift to our families. In our schools, at home, at sport, wherever we are! Let’s  generously give our best and let’s get great at it.

Try this Matching Game.

Playhouse Kids - This is a bath time activity. Take a couple of plastic cups to play with when it’s bath time. Play with pouring the water from one cup to the other. You always run out of water and you have to fill up from the cup or the bath. Try turning the tap on to warm water and hold one cup under the tap, then see if the other cup can fill up on the overflow from the first cup. Gods generous blessings can come directly from him to us. Just like the water pouring into the first cup. When we share that blessing with the people around us that is just like the overflow of the first cup into the second.

We are generous to others because God is generous to us.
