HEY KIDS!
This week is all about -Together we are generous.
Key Text - Luke 9:1-10 | Jesus Sends Out The Disciples | Ruth and Naomi Beginners Bible pg. 152-159.
What’s Happening - Jesus and his disciples have been visiting towns, healing people and talking about what God's kingdom is like. The disciples have been watching and learning. Now it is time for the disciples to go and do the same. Let's explore how the disciples were to go and what Jesus gave them before they went.

Have you ever trained for something before? Maybe it was snow skiing or dancing or soccer. Whatever it was, how long did it take you to get good at it?
Have you ever trained as a team?
In our text today we have a front row seat for the first time that Jesus sends out the disciples.
What had the disciples been training for and what is a Disciple I hear you ask?
Check out this video about what a disciple is and what they do.
Luke 9:1 opens with Jesus and the disciples all together .Read the following verses to see what happened next.
Jesus called the 12 apostles together. He gave them power to heal sicknesses and power over all demons. Jesus sent the apostles out to tell about God’s kingdom and to heal the sick.
Why do you think Jesus said to talk about God’s kingdom?
What kind of Kingdom were they living in?
Israel had been taken over by the Romans years before Jesus was born. If you were not a Roman you did not matter at all.
How do you think that made the people who were not Roman feel?
Why do you think Jesus told them to heal the sick?
In God's kingdom there is no sickness.
Can you imagine that, no sickness?
How big is your bag that you take when you go on a trip?
Check out the instructions below that Jesus gave the disciples about what they were to take?
3 He said to them, “When you travel, don’t take a walking stick. Also, don’t carry a bag, or food, or money. Take for your trip only the clothes you are wearing. 4 When you go into a house, stay there until it is time to leave.
Can you imagine travelling like that?
Why do you think he said that?
What Does Jesus tell the Disciples to do if they are not welcomed by people?
5 If the people in the town will not welcome you, go outside the town and shake the dust off of your feet.[a] This will be a warning to them.”
How could we do this in 2020?
6 So the apostles went out. They traveled through all the towns. They told the Good News and healed people everywhere.
We are about to start school holidays. Can you imagine being sent on an adventure like this one?
If something like this happened today how would people find out about it?
Herod the Governor found out and he wanted to meet Jesus.
Jesus sent the disciples together to do a good thing wherever they went.
Can you think of some good things that you can do together?
Do you know of someone who is sick that we can pray for?
Do you know of someone who needs to know that God's Kingdom is Good?
10 When the apostles returned, they told Jesus all the things they had done on their trip. Then Jesus took them away to a town called Bethsaida. There, Jesus and his apostles could be alone together.
Jesus wants to be with us just like he was with the disciples. He sends his spirit so we are never alone.
Let’s pray that Jesus will send his spirit to be with us just like he did the Disciples.
Then we can go and share the good news of God’s Kingdom.

Treehouse Kids
God is always looking for people who are ready to work together to do good things. People who are ready to do a good thing no matter who they are with or where they are.
There are all kinds of rocks all over the world. Big ones, small ones, precious ones and dangerous ones that get thrown at people. Today, find a rock. Pick it up and feel how heavy it is and what it is like to touch. What can you make out of this rock?
Sometimes we don’t feel like we are good for anything. Jesus never sees us like that.
He sees us as precious, valuable and unique. He is ready to make amazing things with us , friendships families and adventures doing good things together.
Playhouse Kids
Print this out and follow the instructions.
Go for a walk around your house and find things that can make a picture together. You might find some plastic cups that look like eyes, or a banana that looks like a smile or a tangled up ball of wall that looks like hair. You can make whatever you like by putting all these different things together. If you're outside you can use sticks, leaves, flowers and rocks.
Everyday God is looking for people who want to be a part of his amazing picture. He needs your smile to cheer someone up, your eyes to see someone who is hurting, your hands to be gentle. Make something amazing today.
Pictionary
Can you draw a picture and have your family guess what it is.
Think of all the amazing things God has given us like animals and birds, fish, flowers and family. Think about all the stories that tell us how much Jesus loves us.
Take turns at drawing and see if you and your family can guess what the pictures are.

Try growing in generosity together.
Team up. Get together with friends and family so that everyone can work as a team to help others. For example, get a group together to do a walk for a charity or bake for a family going through a rough patch.
In December, our whole family, along with some friends, adopted a family for the holidays and bought items off their wish list. We were able to go to the store and help purchase some of the items for the children who were in need. We couldn’t have made such an impact without the help of everyone involved.
What can you do together to be generous in your community? We would love you to share with us what you choose to do together.
Playhouse Kids - This is a bath time activity. Take a couple of plastic cups to play with when it’s bath time. Play with pouring the water from one cup to the other. You always run out of water and you have to fill up from the cup or the bath. Try turning the tap on to warm water and hold one cup under the tap, then see if the other cup can fill up on the overflow from the first cup. Gods generous blessings can come directly from him to us. Just like the water pouring into the first cup. When we share that blessing with the people around us that is just like the overflow of the first cup into the second.
We are generous to others because God is generous to us.
We would love to see you playing, trying, making and sharing! Please share your photos with your KellyvilleKids community in our WhatsApp Group. If you’re new to our KellyvilleKids community and would like to stay connected, contact us.
